The dirt roads how they beckon... The city lights how they mesmerize... Each hold their own mysteries. Each have their own beauty. Each have their own dangerous unknown.
In honour of spring and the beginning of camping season, here is a video I made about our trip May long weekend last year, along the David Thompson highway. I love the memories it brings back of friendship and good hardy camping food cooked over the open fire. Cheers, hope you enjoy.
The passive life is a safe life. It is easy to drift allowing life to carry you along day to day. To become active is to take risk. To become active is to be noticed.
A passive life is safe but dry, barren and lacking of substance. it leaves one feeling dead and alone. A passive life projects expectation its onto others, that it is unwilling to do itself. It creates isolation and bitterness.
A passive life is safe but most assuredly lacking in human connection and life.
For one who has lived safe for so long it is hard to move and grow beyond the bounds of safe. It is hard to rewrite default behaviours.
Live active. Participate in the wavy seas of life. Push passed fear and leave safe behind for the unexpected and the real.
This is me. I am learning.

Our campsite on an island from my kayak trip this summer. This was such a great spur of the moment trip. I posted this one earlier but I hadn’t figured out how to get the full frame on Instagram. So here it is full and re-edited. #vsco #vscocam #squaready #socality #socalityalberta

Old man mode engaged. Nightly relaxation time with two of my favourites, #kinfolk and my trusty chamomile tea. Learning to find joy in the small things.
Threw a laundry basket at my little brother and this is what he does…
